Yes, it is indeed in a cellar, but they are not ashamed of it, vice versa – this is their pride and joy, and it is highly regarded by the locals. If you want to experience old school Las Vegas classic dining, this is, definitely, the best place. Dimly lit and lined with dark wood and brick, the dining room is rather intimate. But if you would like to feel yourself really cozy, choose one of the curtained booths against the wall. The atmosphere is really romantic, enhanced by a nice custom of presenting a red rose to every female visitor.

The meal, full of ceremony, is perfectly delivered by the well-trained and friendly staff. Salads are included in the price and are prepared at your table, from a cart full of choices. The main courses are traditional and include variations of meat, seafood and chicken prepared in different ways. Entrées vary from beef fillet stuffed with crab meat and wrapped in bacon to Indonesian-spiced rack of lamb. The T-bone steak here is so tender that you can easily cut it with a fork. Vegetables and sides are excellent, as is a dessert of chocolate-dipped fruits with cream. The service is impeccable, and it really makes you feel pampered.

It is hard to find a better spot for a romantic dinner than this upscale restaurant located at the top of the Palms Hotel. Nowhere else will you be able to enjoy an unobstructed view of all of Vegas, the desert, and the mountains from every part of the restaurant. The divine dining room features three sides of full-length windows that allow a panoramic view of the night lights of Vegas. Obviously, window-side tables are best, but even seats in the center of the room have a good view as well.

This elegant restaurant is carefully overseen by André Rochat, one of the best chefs of Las Vegas, known for his artful contemporary French fare. The menu changes seasonally, but anything you order will be heavenly, like a shrimp and artichoke timbale trimmed with avocado and cucumber relish, or a tissue-thin Kobe beef carpaccio with dark pesto topping and tomato comfit. The foie gras can come in a pink-grapefruit-and-citrus-honey reduction, a tangy combination. Don't miss the stunning New York steak with summer truffle jus and potato herb pancakes, or the meltingly tender lamb chops with some shredded lamb shank wrapped in a crispy fried crepe. Such complex dishes as seared diver scallops with bacon confit, black truffles, sunny-side-up quail eggs, and caviar demonstrate the kitchen's estimable skills. Pepper-crusted filet mignon with a cognac cream sauce makes for one of the better main courses. Desserts are similarly outstanding, such as sorbet in a case of browned marshmallow, floating in raspberry soup.

Picasso

Average price: $113
Recommended For: Romantic, Business
Address: 3600 Las Vegas Blvd. S, in Bellagio, Mid-Strip Phone: (877) 234-6358

Have you tried exquisite French cuisine cooked by a Spanish chef in an Italian-themed hotel in Vegas? Believe us, it is gorgeous. One of the best restaurants in Vegas, Picasso offers an extraordinary dining experience, including the thrill of having $30 million worth of Picassos look down over your shoulders while you eat. The dining room features the furnishings designed by one of Picasso's sons, and even the paintings themselves are challenged for beauty by the exceptional floral arrangements.

The artful, innovative cuisine is based on French classics but also has strong Spanish influences. Serrano's cooking is a work of art that can proudly stand next to the masterpieces. The menu changes nightly and always offers a choice between a four- or five-course prix-fixe dinner or a tasting menu. Appetizers on the seasonal menu might include warm quail salad with sautéed artichokes and pine nuts or poached oysters with osetra caviar and vermouth sauce. Sautéed medallions of fallow deer, roasted milk-fed veal chop, or roasted almond-and-honey crusted pigeon might appear as entrée choices. Don’t miss a filet of roasted sea bass with a light saffron sauce and dots of cauliflower purée. Besides, they are serving just outstanding lamb rôti, perfectly done, tender, and crusted with truffles. Portions are dainty but so rich that you'll have plenty to eat without groaning and feeling heavy when you leave. For dessert you may choose a molten chocolate cake that comes with ice cream made with imported European chocolate. A crisp banana tart with coconut ice cream is a fine choice, while a passion-fruit flan in a citrus-soup sauce is perfect if you don't have much room left. Everything is delivered by attentive staff who make you feel quite pampered.

Bouchon

Thomas Keller became famous with his Napa Valley restaurant French Laundry, considered to be the best restaurant in the United States, and this stunning, capacious French bistro and oyster bar in the Venezia Tower at the Venetian is a version of his Napa Valley bistro. The elegant dining room with soaring Palladian windows, antique lighting, and painted tile create a French country atmosphere. The folded brown-paper menu opens to reveal classics like steak frites, braised pork with cabbage fondue, and mussels with white wine. Even though the dishes may sound humble, in every case they are gold-standard versions of classics. Don't miss the bacon and poached-egg frisée salad, or the cleanly seared salmon over poached leeks, prepared so perfectly that it may easily do without the accompanying sauce. Finish with profiteroles, a lemon tart, or crème caramel. Bouchon is a superlative Las Vegas restaurant that offers a memorable breakfast as well, where you might try bread pudding-style French toast or a smoked-salmon baguette.
