Waikki is the place that is full of surprises. One of its hot destinations is the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, which is also known as the "Pink Place". This hotel, which is naturally painted pink, has become notorious as the playground for the rich and famous and even in the time of Depression it attracted royalty, presidents and other celebrities to its opulent accommodations. Originally, Captain William Matson built the Royal Hawaiian Hotel to accommodate passengers from the Matson Steamship Company’s luxury cruise ship. Since that time the hotel has been the icon of luxury and romance.

When the show finishes, the theatrical scene is removed and the night club appears, with the dance floor of 4,500 square feet, DJs and 116-foot projection screen. The night club is open till 4 a.m., being known as Level4.

For early Hawaiians surfing meant much more than just catching and riding the waves. This practice stemmed from social and ritual activities that began with the selection of the tree from which the board would be made and progressed to the legendary surfing contests performed for the chiefs. Surfing was a significant part of the history of Hawaii and it is vividly reflected in Hawaiian traditions, songs and tales. Nowadays, surfing no less enchants people, capturing their body and soul by the magnificent fury of the power of the ocean.
