Home to Hearst Castle, Solvang Danish Village, Piedras Blancas elephant seals, horseback riding and san dunes riding, wine country, Santa Barbara, Monterey, Carmel and 17-Mile Drive, Central Coast is truly the prettiest coastline of California.

Central Coast features many of the finest beaches including Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, Big Sur, Carmel and Monterey, which are blessed with sand beaches, and wineries where tourists can taste and purchase the finest wines. Due to farm fresh produce, scenic rolling hills and a rural feel, Central Coast is one of the most popular weekend getaway regions of the state. Solvang Danish Village, Hearst Castle and 10 California missions are all located in this historically and culturally rich region of California.

The entire area accesses wineries, but your best wine tasting opportunities begin on the South coast at Santa Barbara and extend through Paso Robles. This is where you can stay at any of the hotels in the area, and be no more than 30 minutes form 10 wineries or more. Santa Barbara, Buellton, Solvang, Santa Maria, Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo, Atascadero and Paso Robles are among the greatest wine tasting options.

From a wide array of aquatic life around Monterey to rare wildlife on the Channel Islands, the Central Coast is a nature lover’s heaven. Here you can spot majestic gray whales in winter, delicate monarch butterflies clinging to the eucalyptus trees in Big Sur and enormous elephant seals gathering near Piedras Blancas. Wine lovers will appreciate world-class wineries and vineyards sprinkling the area from North to South.

Almost midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles stands fabulous Hearst Castle, the most popular non-theme attraction park in the state. Perched high above the Pacific on a site that Mr. W.R. Hearst called the Enchanter Hill, this magnificent estate is yours to explore the miles of coastal vistas and marvel the allure of a glamorous era. Created for private retreat, now it is a perfect place to discover a treasure trove of antiquities from around the globe.

And farther South, tucked between curving white-sand beaches and the green hills of the Santa Ynez Mountains, lies Santa Barbara, a Mediterranean-style beach town renowned for its Spanish and Mission Revival architecture with red tiled roofs. The coastal drive from here down to Ventura is amazingly sublime.
